The Mechanical Engineering Department conducts a scientific visit to the Al-Iqtisad  Al-Arabi (MG-Iraq)

Following the principle of cooperation between the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology and companies operating in the field of vehicle inspection and maintenance, a scientific visit was conducted for the students of the Automotive Engineering branch (fourth stage) to the Al-Iqtisad  Al-Arabi Company, agents of MG Iraq. The students were received by Engineer Ahmed Thabit, the company's director, who is one of the graduates of the Automotive Engineering branch of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology. The visit included a tour to introduce the company and its operations for receiving vehicles undergoing inspection and maintenance. A valuable scientific lecture was given by Engineer Ahmed Thabit, highlighting the importance of the center, the work stages, and the important role of automotive engineers in managing and operating modern and distinguished workshops at MG Iraq Company. The scientific visit was supervised by the head of the Automotive Engineering branch, Professor Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, and the lecturers, Dr. Aqeel Zaki Mahdi and Dr. Sajida Sabri Fares.

The Automotive Engineering Department organized a scientific visit to the Middle Technical University / Institute of Technical Trainer Preparation

The Automotive Engineering Branch / Mechanical Engineering Department / University of Technology organized a scientific visit to the Middle Technical University / Institute of Technical Trainer Preparation on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. This visit was accompanied by a group of professors from the Automotive Engineering Branch, including Assoc. Prof. Adel Mahmoud Saleh and Dr. Yasmeen Hameed Abdul, as well as lecturers from the Training and Laboratories Center / Automotive Section (Lecturer Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim and Senior Engineer Abbas Mahdi Abbas), along with fourth-stage students from the Automotive Engineering Department, based on scientific cooperation and to observe the practical application aspect to link theoretical and practical aspects.

The visit aimed to familiarize students with the nature of the work of modern devices and systems used, and to explore the latest technology used in the institute's laboratories, especially the automatic gear laboratory in the Power Mechanics department. The delegation was received by the Assistant Dean of the Institute, Dr. Mohammed Saad Ali Alsaffar, who gave an explanation about the nature of the practical laboratories in the institute and their pioneering and distinguished role in building the student's capabilities to develop their scientific and practical abilities in their future careers. A visit was made to the automatic gear laboratory in the Power Mechanics department, where a scientific lecture was delivered by Senior Engineer Mahmoud Akram Ahmed, and a visit was also made to the automotive electricity and electronics laboratory, where lectures were delivered by the supervising gentlemen and laboratory staff.

In conclusion, the supervisors of the scientific visit and the students of the Automotive Engineering Branch expressed their thanks and appreciation to the institute's management for their warm reception, expressing their happiness with this trip to acquire new information that adds valuable knowledge for the student's future practical work, and providing the opportunity to update their knowledge about their specialization.

A faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering Department participated as a keynote speaker

As a keynote speaker, a faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering Department participated at the 4th IEEE International Conference on Computing, Communication, and Intelligent Systems, held on November 3rd and 4th. Assistant Professor Alaa Abdelhadi Jabr delivered a lecture titled "Harnessing AI: Leveraging Machine Learning for Robust Quadcopter Fault Diagnosis" via the Zoom platform.

The lecture focused on developing an effective model for diagnosing faults in drones using machine learning algorithms. The research involved collecting operational data from drones with various faults, then training different algorithms on this data to extract patterns distinguishing between normal and abnormal cases. The results demonstrated the proposed model's ability to detect faults and accurately identify their type with over 95% accuracy, providing a powerful tool for predictive maintenance.

The University of Technology Participates in the International Conference on Modeling and Simulation

Sponsored by his Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib, titled "Sound Scientific Research: Solid scientific research, a way to support sustainable development in Iraq."
